I think what the league needed to hand down as a punishment was that Fleck is out for the period of time that Clayton misses, then 5 or 10 games on top of that. Whether or not there was stick or elbow or just forearm, and whether or not it was truly "intent to injure" it was still a blow to the head. I work in sports medicine and have seen some of the dangers associated with head injures. Everyone should be thankfull that Travis looks like he will make a full comeback with no lasting problems. That being said, headhunting occurs in all sports and is something that needs to be stopped before more serious injuries occur. Whether it's blows to the head in hockey, throwing at a batters head in baseball, helmet-to-helmet hits in football, etc. headhunting needs to be delt with severely.

By the way, I don't think it will be a problem come Saturday to find someone willing to go after a Blazer. My only hope is that half our team doesn't come back from the trip with suspensions. Our first game with OKC when Fleck is back isn't until February, but I don't think anybody will soon forget.

After seeing the video... i say fleck should have been kicked out for the season! That was brutal and deliberate!

Duane Lewis, CHL director of operations, said that Fleck deserved the match penalty. However, Lewis said the league concluded that Fleck "didn't set out to deliberately injure another player."
Lewis described the jabbing motion that Fleck made with his forearm before the contact with Clayton's head as a "reactionary move."
"It looks like Fleck is setting up for a solid body check," Lewis said. "Travis moves slightly to the right because he sees the hit coming. The player (Fleck) then -- in reaction -- puts his arm out to complete the hit. It's hard to get in a player's head, but it doesn't look like there was an intent to injure."


Mr. Lewis is a wise man, my question is why did they give TheDiesel any games? Probally because of the Thunder whinning about Clayton would retire. TheDiesel hits hard, everyone knows that. If you don't want hit stay off the ice and keep your head up.
