A little damage control from Bilodeau?

Hello Thunder Fans,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the progress of the team. I am in the midst of heavy recruiting, looking for the right players to fit into the Thunder line-up. I have been in contact with NHL and AHL clubs all summer and many other leagues are getting calls to see what is available. Understand that I am not in a hurry to just sign anyone in order to get players on paper. Some of the key players on this year’s team will more than likely not be signed - or assigned to us - until late September/early October. I am looking for hardworking and good character guys to make the Wichita Thunder a team to contend with.

We currently have 10 players signed and will make some announcements in the coming weeks. More than likely we are looking at 3 new veteran players, a new defensive corps and good young pair of goaltenders.

My wife Cass, twin boys Jacob and Tyler (4 years old), our new daughter Alexa - who was born on August 1st - and myself are very excited to be getting to Wichita this weekend. We are looking forward to being a part of the Wichita community and the Thunder family. I look forward to meeting the fans soon and seeing you all at the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday Night October 18th!

Yeah, but he also raised the bar by holding out the promise of affiliated players (or at least guys who are in an AHL camp before they come to Wichita). Even used the word "NHL." All that stuff is nice but it tends to backfire if the bodies don't actually show up (or if they are just the same caliber of bodies with a little pedigree).

so based on his......."more than likely we will be lookin at 3 new veterans"

its safe to say....

1. travis will not be back

2. none of the 10 players he says we have already signed is a VET

With all due respect. It's time to put up or shut up! This is a response to the Clayton article and the probable calls the office received in reaction to it.

Every other fucking team has at least 3 times the numbers of signee's the Thunder have. If you have 10 signed, release them for Christ sakes! Or at least, oh I don't know maybe 4 or 5.

So putting in calls to the NHL and AHL clubs means that we will sign NHL and AHL players?

So if he releases ten players today does that make them a better team?

I sounds like it to me he has the ball rolling in the right direction, heading this way and will release some players next week.

I think they are tired of fans (me included) tearing the new guys up and hating them before they even play.

But on the flip side they should let people get excited if they do land that big fish...

Not at all. But at least people will know there IS a team! Also with each name released it adds momentum towards season ticket sales and energy leading up to the opening night.

But I'm sure they'll give away half the tickets anyway so it really doesn't matter, does it?

Yeah you should wait until after the first game and then start ripping them.

hell lq... I think if they released all 10 names, plus the names of others they are thinking of bringing in... sign them all and have it all done by Tuesday... I still doubt you would be happy.

Trust me, it's going to take a lot more than a few names to make me happy with this shitty organization. "Getting rid" of Presson was a start.

I simply think it's pathetic that they're playing the whole "I know something you don't know" game with everyone. Every other team in the league has half their players signed and their names released to the public. What's the hold-up?
