My guess is that GB didn't have the $'s to pay for Weiss but Lincoln does. Second, maybe he can grab A scholarship. One of the issues in Springytown is that the coaches don't do much to help players move on, with the exception of their one or two stars. You can go back into the history of the team to find players that were told no teams were interested, they left for other teams/leagues and lo and behold, they get some DI deal. That word has spread so that is why you only see 6 or 7 of 17 coming back this year. IMHO

Hewkin....ect...I'm aware.

Though as big as a detractor as I am of Wyler, I don't think it's fair to judge his movement of players just yet. That was a young, raw team bulit with no draft picks and no tenders. A lot of the guys that have D-1 talent just weren't yet ready for the D-1 scene. Sorry Cookie, Rowe, Rickord, Gaff but you all needed a year more. Sorry Greco.

While I really would have liked to seen Mohler, Larke and Kennedy move on to D-1 schools -- Stevie's injuries over the past two years and his bout with mono really killed his chances. I guess he's now going to Curry College and not Utica though.

Larke was streaky and could go through droughts. Could score in bunches though. I'm a bit myffed why he hasn't seen a D-3 offer at least. If he has, I just didn't hear about it.

And TK meh he's on the borderline but I thought he had a lot of heart and hardwork, enough to get an offer. But there's so many kids competing for very few D-1 spots. Fewer now that Wayne State's gone.

It's not like the kids they had didn't get offers, looks, or interest -- they were told they just needed one more year. Not neccessarily Wyler's fault. Shocked as I am saying it, but he did a great job with the cards he was handed.

Let's judge him where the kids wind up this year. I'm giving him a chance. I agree, Pollos didn't always make the right calls in talent and such but meh -- let's not noose Wyler for Nick's bad judgement.

Anyways -- anyone have the full roster yet? Was supposed to be pasted at 10 am. Sad this year things kept coming up for me and on the last day I figured it wasn't worth it and didn't want to go by myself. Would have loved to seen who was all there.

I remember jerad demicahel tried out in the ushl pollos cut him and it is one of the reasons davies went to lincoln
give wyler a shot if no kids are going two and three years its the coach
remember last year was his first full year

Only 4 returning players? Wow. Only 6 with NAHL experience. Might be an uphill season( but on the other hand, maybe not. )

Would I be wrong in assuming that this is simply the list of players that made it through the main camp and not the complete roster?

Obviously two notable players are not on that list: Kyle Greco and Tye Lewis. That would bring the total to 8 NAHL vets and nearly half the team with Jr. experience.

They would also bring the total player count to 25 which (correct me if i'm wrong) is the roster limit.

Yeah I'm a bit surprised not to see Greco or Lewis on there. But this was the final camp. Which is odd. But there's only 23 names on that list so there's a couple spots right?

Nice to see the goalies though.... thumbs up there and congrats

And RLN's saying about what I'm saying -- give him a longer shot than one year.

I remember finding Jared on myspace...he never accepted my add. Not that I really expected him to.

I love posting at the same time as others.

But yeah next question is -- anyone know anything about the new players?

I mean I'm sure we can get glowing reports on Prost and Groh. I'm hoping Prost can center the second line...if Greco's indeed in the driver's seat in the top line -- which hopefully is Dargis-Greco-Lewis as AK suggested.

And we know some slight things about Karmass and Curry. So....curious about the rest.

Tye Lewis made the team in Omaha. Don't think Greco tried out in the USHL this season, but the knock on him has always been speed.

Nick Curry spent most of a season with Sioux City, and tried out for many more teams. He definitely was not USHL material and apparently wasn't cutting it in Bismarck since he ended up back with Colorado Rampage. He can be good, but he needs to mature physically. I remember him being a small kid that was pushed around all too much.

You know I looked at the Omaha roster a couple times and Tye Lewis never clicked. Hmm. but yeah I see his name now.

Yeah I don't think I saw Greco anywhere and speed's a problem. A couple times he looked unfocused out there. I figured he'd come back to be a top line option here instead of a fourth liner in the USHL.

Curry played something like 8 games with the Bobcats. Here's to hoping a year's a huge difference.

apparently the SJ-R online doesn't have the article posted this morning but skimming the details

-- about 120 kids and it went great
-- beginnings of a good hockey club
-- comparable to last year but with better all-around players
-- players report september 2 for first practice
-- Wyler goes on about the professionalism of the club and the boosters
-- Gaffney, Kitt, Globke and Cook are confirmed as the only ones back
-- Greco is definitely not on the club. Neither is Aponte. They just list the players not returning and say they've either moved on to other leagues, been traded or were cut during camp. So Fangers, was Greco there?
-- we have a lot of fast, young kids
-- Cook, Gaffney and Globke are back for their third seasons.
-- The two roster spots are left open to fill specific needs. He hints at defense being the need. We already have 8 on the roster so I wouldn't get comfortable with the kids we have. He dealt Calma, Musselman and Niedz fairly early last year.
-- He credits Maher for recruiting. We do have some Minny kids.
-- There's also a side bar mentioning the passing of Jack Healy last week
Definitely sad and a huge blow to youth hockey in the area. It's definitely going to be different not seeing him at the consession stands.
-- Nice to see both Brad Sellars and Ian Harper quoted for the Healy article.

So yeah...we know where some of the kids went but we need to still figure out where the following have gone:

Kyle Greco
Matt Aponte (cut I know)
Chris Gentile (makes me a sad panda)
Mike Crowder

RLN any insight? And just who exactly are you if you don't mind a PM?

Personally, I've talked to enough kids to make that determination. Not asking for agreement, but the fact that not many players wanted to stay speaks volumes for the program. But, good luck to those that are there and staying.
