Compensation

I wouldn't call the NAHL a feeder league, yet. However, I believe that the USHL has to compensate the NAHL, but the other way is not true. That would tell me that the USHL is considered to be the better league in the eyes of USA Hockey.

The USHL is the better league, it is Tier I. More college scholarships, better scouted. My only knock as to the USHL is its lack of any real focus on goaltending.

Now I see that Omaha traded to obtain a goltender from Ohio, whose stats are nothing to strive for. Both Omaha and Ohio are two more teams with no goaltending coach. Something needs to change at this high level of junior hockey.

Palmisano is a good goalie. Bad defense makes his numbers less than desirable, but he's a good goalie. Omaha needed to trade for one because they released Scott Gudmandson, who didn't pan out to be as good as they thought.

Ryan,
Isn't Gudnandson committed to Wisconsin? What gives with that?

yes, he is. I read a blog entry awhile back that said Wisconsin may be looking at a different goalie instead of Gudmandson. Maybe he can regain some confidence in the BCHL.

Is that where Gudmandson is going....the BCHL? If so, which team?

Palmisano won in his Omaha debut 4-1. Amazing what a goalie can do with a little defense in front of him.

Hate to see the continuing shake up in the USHL with goaltenders. A few more recent releases. The league needs a better system - still no known team with a goaltending coach. This should be a requirement at this level.

From what I understand, even the NTDP doesn't have a goalie coach, and they are supposed to be an "elite" program.

The most recent events of goaltender movement was due to Aaron Rock dropping from the OHL again. He couldn't cut it there, and went back to Tri-City. Tri-City then traded their backup to Lincoln, and thus them releasing Morrow. Morrow had not been very good, and wasn't able to push Bryan Hogan. Christianson has come in and performed excellent and Lincoln is back to winning.

The twist on that story is that back in Midget Majors, Hogan was Morrow's backup.
