Intrust Arena

Well what did everyone think.

Things I didn't like -

Thought there would be a better selection of food (atleast they still have HOT NUTS).

I thought the boards and the glass were very quite, big checks didn't make much noise (or maybe we didn't have anyone checking hard).

Sounds system sucked, hopefully they will get it dailed in better, it had no bass at all.

Sitting 10 rows behind the goal and I couldn't see the back of the net since they had seats right behind the boards.

Other then those few little things I think it pretty great. Wondering how it will feel with 2000 people in there.

All in all I enjoyed the arena. I did have some negatives:

- Parking. Will have to do a little trial and error to come up with the best area. Thank you county commision.

- Concession prices. No, I'm not looking for a summary on economics and the impacts of inflations from Risser....but the food was pretty darn expensive. I got a nacho and a large drink for $12.50. Honestly, they probably did well with the newness and everyone wanting to try something but they are going to take a beating on food pretty quick. A nacho and a large drink at the coliesum was what, $8.00? I don't see me eating too often down there.

- Concession variety. I was really disappointed in the new offerings. For instance, the BBQ place had a BBQ sandwich and BBQ Nachos (A regular nacho with a scoop of Pulled Pork on them....effing horrible) and that was it. The Hot Dog stand had a foot long hot dog or braut and that was about it. I figured there would be 25 different hot dogs that you could get...nope. Carlos O' Kellys had a nacho or a chicken burrito. That was it. Kind of sad.

- Sounds system. I'm with TStruck, they need to work it a bit.

If you get a hair cut at a hockey game....you might be a redneck...or a moron. What the hell is Supercuts doing at the IBA..funny.

It will be a different ballgame when the new wears off and there is only 2500 there.

I am with T-struck it was weird to be 10 or so row up and not be able to see the goal line.

The bar with reserved seating looks like a cool place to hang, will have to try it out sometime, without purchasing them of course!

Pretty cool all in all.

I enjoyed the IBA.

Game production could've been better. Why play the "highlight" reel with the team already on the ice? Bet they were struggling for highlights for that one.

Sound system does need some work. Sometimes hear the announcements and music, sometimes not.

Scoreboard graphics were pretty good. It was easy to read the information and it didn't shut off once.

Parking was free and two blocks away for me. Pretty much the same walk as the KC, but not uphill. I don't know about any problems besides price for others.

Too expensive food and beer sucks. I was in Denver a couple of weeks ago, and beer costs more here. That's ridiculous! The food choices were limited as well. Hoped there would have been a better selection.

Beer selection was good. It is hard to beat a Black & Tan from the English Pub stand.

The worst part of my experience was the shitty team that graces the ice. Keserich(sp?) makes 39 saves and gets 1 f-ing goal in support. What a joke.

Overall, nice place for Wichita and I hope it serves this community well.

I thought the IBA was lightyears ahead of the BBA. Parked three blocks away from the arena (probably the equivalent of walking from the outer south parking lot of the BBA to the BBA box office), and was out of DT in a couple minutes, after the game. They really need more ticket scanners on "expected" big nights LIKE OPENING NIGHT!!! The fricking lines at entrances "A" and "C" took forever to get in. The cashiers, or atleast the dumb bitch that I went to, need to know the difference between 16 oz and 24 oz cups, when it comes to beer.

As far as the "nacho prices", did you get the "pre-packaged" cheez-whiz nackos, like at the "standard" BBA concession stand, or something like the "special nachos" that they used to sell at the "taco stand"? If I remember, those cost $6.50 to $7.00, when they still sold them, at the BBA.

Thought it was cool that they had everything upstairs (except "Papa Johns"), concession-wise, that they had downstairs. And eventhough there were more people in the upper bowl, the concourse was not near as busy as the lower concourse. I wasn't too uncomfortable in the upper bowl seats. Could have used the legroom of the Coliseum, but I liked the seats. Definitely more "butt"-room than the Ford Center's seats. Really liked the video board. Could have used less shots of the crowd WHILE THE PUCK WAS IN PLAY!!! I'd hate to think that the folks, that watched the game on CHLTV, got the same feed. Wondering why the play was stopped, when the video guy got tired of watching the "t-shirt" guy sitting on his ass for about a minute. And it would be nice if you're going to show a "replay", THAT YOU ACTUALLY SHOWED IT!!! Definitely need to cut down some of those "intro" videos. I did like the intro, at the begining, eventhough I think it was alittle much for these losers. It was amazing they found enough "highlights" to fill a two minute intro video. Though, I thought it was funny that it seemed like most of the "highlights" were of guy no longer here. I know this video thing was a completely new thing, with this team, I just hope the learning curve is a quick one.

All in all, great game, eventhough the outcome sucked.

announcer sucked. guess that moron isin't aware of where anything is taking place. Hamburger flipping contest in sect 120 and 122 come on dude they was at the opposite end of the ice and those 2 sections ain't even next to each other anymore.

Sound was definately way to friggin loud. Hell when they did talk my seat rattled.

Speaking of seats no leg room at all. don't know how many folks I watched get up and try to get out only to catch their legs on the damn cup holder stick 3 ft out into a 2 ft walkway. also whats with the seats and the slight tilt backwards? thank heavens for only 20 minute periods.

Seemed like enough room around the lower concourse but the lines were nortrocious. toilet lines mixed in with some concession lines and vice versa.

Seats in 101 sucked for view of the ice unless play was right down in front again best seats look to be either end. I kind of liked the lil middle section between upper and lower bowl those seats all looked good might have try them out especially on the ends.

Agree with the rest limited concessions thought would be more variety besides wraps nachos and bbq. The prices were high and like TF wont be eating there anytime soon.

Lines getting in sucked no need to explain BT covered that quite well.

Parking -- thought that was terrible city could have done better job. Sure traffic wasnt bad by time walked 5 miles to car lol. (at least wasnt all up hill) ok maybe it was 4-5 blocks for $4 not bad but I wouldnt do it in a blizzard. Rest of the parking prices was obscene $10, $15 $20 and $25 in one spot Hell the way this team plays who in right mind would pay $25 for parking $50 for a couple Tix. another $50 for drinks and something to eat to watch them get their asses handed to them and lose nightly? NOT ME

Agree with TF I think who stated no sound from any checking no board crashing from hard misses or anything else.

Definately be interesting when there's only 3000 or so in attendance maybe then roper can crash the neat looking VIP bar.

i liked the vids and scoreboard that actually worked even though the individual keeping trak of SOG kept adding shots to wrong team and having to correct it. that will come in time.

Nice place overall maybe for concerts and such but when newness wears off the upper bowl and half the lower bowl will be wasted space dark empty seats for hockey ghosts past and present to enjoy.

Been to one other new arena this season in Mo. Definately like IBA better but it's not the greatest with some flaws we will have to live and deal with. Didn't bother me much seeing has have had military training for being packed in close like sardines! Rolling Eyes

Maybe that could work out. You stand in line for a beer, then chug it down while still in line, this time for the bathroom to unload the previous beer.

There - you kill two birds with one stone ... something like that.

I had the Chicken wrap with chips & salsa at COK. Was better than anything at the KC. Now that they have a videoboard, they need to play this video before the game:

Didn't make it to the game. But was at the Brad Paisley concert in the upper level. Let me tell you, there is absolutely no freaking leg room up there. Which sucks for those of us with bad knees!

I haven't gotten a chance to get to the IBA yet but I can tell you why the sound system was probably too loud. Being the first game in the new arena they probably didn't have it calibrated quite right for hockey. As someone who has worked sound (be it in high school theatre) it is sometimes hard to understand what the sound sounds like in an open area as opposed to a sound booth. You also have a lot more sound reflective surfaces at a hockey game than you do at concerts, the glass could actually bounce the sound. They also most likely have a system that is a multipurpose which would be set up in zones better oriented towards the type of sound you need for a concert. Give the soundboard operator a few games to learn where the board levels need to be set at.
