wrong, fred, not only do they have the right to do what they did, they did the right thing. if you own and manage a sports league you can't let parents and coaches manipulate their rosters by having kids "play down" in a rec league for the sole purpose of totally dominating the other teams. you can't ignore the desires of the majority of the players, coaches and parents. or you better not if you want to keep having a league for the kids to play in. and you definitely can't have the parents and coaches lie to you about resolving a concern that you brought to their attention. most importantly, though, you can't punish a kid by letting coaches and parents make him play in a non-competitive situation. that will not properly prepare him for adult life (which, as i hear former players, coaches the the parents tell it, is what youth sports is all about).

As I said, the mom sounds like a bitch. Of course your idea that she's trying to "sandbag" the league by having her son play below his level of competition is bullshit. The kid plays in a league with his peers. There are varying skill levels amongst all of the players, I'm sure. He just happens to excel at pitching. Personally, I think the league is being petty and stupid. I think the same of the mother. I think even less of you.

i state my opinions just like everyone else here. the difference is that don't try to get the gov't to impose my beliefs on everyone. and i sure wouldn't try to make the gov't institute my religious beliefs by passing laws that do that. that's the main difference, i actually believe in personal freedom, whereas you just talk about believing in it (you of the faux "conservative" movement ).

I played a lot of sports when I was a kid. I've gone up against some great athletes and some really shitty ones. I remember in football, one team had this fucking giant on their team that damn near broke me in half time after time after time. Rather than piss and moan that he was too big for our league, though, I learned to move faster than him and hit him low to take him off of his feet. In the end, it benefitted me.
