why??? if a hockey team...especially a NATIONAL one...is doing very well, shouldnt game attendance increase??? Sure.

otherwise, if they play like crap on a consistent basis, then no one will show up to watch.

makes perfect sense to me. whats so hard about that?

Um, the rink the USNTDP plays in seats maybe 800 tops (and that's with standing room). In the early years of the program they had greater numbers, but they also played Major Junior teams back then too. On any given home stand maybe 10% of the attendence is scouts - NCAA, NHL, and Major Junior (if reported attendence is 200, well, you can do the math...). Since they do not need gate receipts to fund the team, that particular attendance figure is more important than total numbers (and much more impressive than any other NAHL team, IMHO. And it damn well better be given the mission of the program). The other factor is the 'competing events' factor. The NTDP is in Ann Arbor, MI. There are too many competing professional, college, and non-professional sporting events (and other events) to mention that compete with the NTDP. The program is doing it's job as well. While we can (and do) argue about the value of the $2MM investment annually in the program, US National Teams have consistently performed better in international play than they did before the program started a decade or so ago. Check the rosters - many or most of the players (depending on the age of the team) are current or former US NTDP players.

Very, very good info, Pop! Thank you! Did not realize they had such a small arena and competition. Under 18 played mostly universities with mixed results....lost by a goal to Ohio St, lost by a goal to Notre Dame. Thats a bit impressive.

How come the Cats never played them? Or did they played them at all in the past???

Thanks again, Pop!

Haven't played each other in the past due primarily to being in different divisions. They are scheduled to face each other in the Showcase up in MN, September 17 if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if the Cats will be playing the U17s (92's) or the U18's (91's). It would be wise for teams not to underestimate the talent of the NTDP clubs, which can make up for being rusty early in the season...

JT,
I'll back your play. USNTDP is great. Considering that this is a select program of the best 17s and 18s in the country, it has gong a long way towards elevating the standard of play here in the US. Yea, I'll play along, Go USA

anti-Wildcat!!!!

always is and always will.... Rolling Eyes

and JT. find another team to support because the one you had is HISTORY and quit living in the past. Just make sure you DONT support the Cats, ok!!!

ok...I'm "anti-wildcat"...really? WOW!

Like I said before, I would rather not have a team then have one with fans like you. I think I will support the USNTDP.

Might want to be careful about talking trash when your team won't be there after this season.

BTW..."Quit living in the past" is what a fan of a team that has never done anything says. Do something, then talk. 'Nuff said.

Well, I wouldnt say quit living in the past to anyone who still have a team...but YOU??? Yes sir, QUIT LIVING IN THE PAST!!!! Because your coaches and players have already moved on so why dont YOU do the same!!!!

And BTW...USNTDP???? Looks like you're the ONLY one on GR who supports them Crack Up

Hey! Shit for brains. Of course he's "anti-wildcat, he's a Suckholes supporter!!! My Gawd, can you be any stupider.

And, yes, the USNTP deserves our support. Sorry you are too stupid to realize that, Never mind..........that's redundant.........which you probably don't understand either.................

Considering they represent our NATIONAL TEAM in international competition, what's your excuse for NOT supporting them?

well, it could be that they played like s*** most of time. Wildcats could beat them 10 times over!

anybody could claim they are NATIONAL TEAM but it dont necessarily means they get all the support if they dont play like one on consistent basis.

and if they are NATIONAL TEAM, why do they rank near the bottom in attendance??? That shouldnt be too hard to figure out, huh?

Crack Up

You're talking about someone trashing a thread? After what you posted about the USNTDP?

You're kidding, right? Because, maybe, before you start trashing a team, you might need to know a little about them....

AGAIN, Pop has already made it clear to me about the national team. Either post something hockey related or STFU!!!
