OKC Thunder!... ???

Hey everybody, long time no see! For those who care, KOCO is reporting that the company that does the NBA websites just registered "OKCTHUNDERBASKETBALL.COM".

Oklahoma City Thunder was a finalist in the poll of names for the new franchise. Looks like Tosha and I can root for the Thunder in the Ford Center without being pelted by beers now! Rolling Eyes

Seems odd to me they would allow their team to carry the same name as a fierce CHL rival. A funny sidenote; a post on an Arkansas sports talk forum states that since Garth Brooks is from nearby Yukon, OK, the could play "Thunder Rolls" all the time during the game! Now THAT would be funny. Laughing

Remember, this is not official, everyone may be jumping to conclusions on the website thing. Just thought it'd be interesting to hear what everyone had to say... Cool

Do you really think Clay Bennett and company even know the Wichita Thunder exist?

Could be just one of many web registrations though. That particular URL seems rather clunky (as opposed to, for example, "Blazers.com" for Portland's NBA team). Looks like "thunder.com" is something they could make an offer on though.

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this scrolling across ESPN news. Out of all the names to call a team... they decided to go with Thunder!

Someone better rethink that!!!!!
