Omaha Knights

went to my first AHL game In omaha whne the thunder was not playing in wichita. The Omaha Knights played Iowa Stars. One thing that I love about the Knights is that they are one of the hardest hitting teams I have ever watched live. they finish every single check and every single check is really hard. They ended up losing the game by a late powerplay goal by Iowa but I was really entertained by the energy and grit of both teams. The level of play you can tell is definaly higher. I was surprised that there was only about 1500 at the game.

The problem in Omaha is the UNO team and the USHL team have been there for a while and have a great fan base. It will be hard for the Knights to bring them over. The fans of the other teams may go and watch the Knights when their team is out of town but they are devoted fans.

from what I saw from my time there was that the UNO team was completly boring, The Lancers were ok, but if I had a choice of the 3 I would definatly watch the Knights. Probably one of the problems with attendance is that the Ticket prices are higher to see the knights than to see the lancers or the maverics. Even though the knights feel short in the game I saw them, they went out and gave a 60 minute effort and kept the hits comming. I am going to go and see them a few games this month while the thunder is on their long road trip.

Some of us from Topeka are going up the 3rd and 4th of Feb. We will go see both UNO and the Knights. There are 4 players for UNO that played here (USHL) so we try to keep up on them.

I saw UNO play lake superior state and it was a snooze fest, neither team played with any intensity or desire. play was sloppy, maybe it has changed since then. most the time I would watch the Lancers and every once in awhile I would go and watch the Lincoln Stars since Omaha and lincoln are only about 40 minutes from eachother.

Last time I was in Omaha was either '79 or '80. I ate at Sambo's and it made me sick.

Omaha is my Fourth Home behind:

Mount Carroll IL
Seligman MO
Chicago IL
Omaha NE!

Because there's an industry that helped build up Omaha, and it still exists today, and I loved it as a kid, and when i see them stopping traffic, I still wave at the Engineer *hint hint* while he/she bellows the horn for the cars...

Knights

Ryan McGill is one of the best young coaches in minor league hockey. He is destined to move up within a season or two. Omaha is lucky to have him.
