Owatonna Express tryout camp

I have to say it is great to see the camp get started. Looks like things are running well. The only thing I would bitch about is the lack of any rosters available. It would be nice to see who is who.

Other than that, it appears the express organization has picked up where they left off last July, only with new ownership.

The new guys in the front office looked kind of lost but the old veterans seemed to have slipped right back into old habits.

I sure hope we can get a bunch of good players for Cullen to mold into another playoff team.

Rosters are out Friday. I see Kruse and Puente from Texas T's are here. Other than Wildcat Cowbell ringer, anybody else have any comments on these guys?

Not too many great players out there. I am really baffled by the goalie situation. There are about five that look pretty even. Anybody have any thoughts on the goalies? Kid from ND looked pretty decent to me. Wobshall looked good but he's not available this year, or is he. Sutcliff from NV looked OK too.

Puente is a decent D-man who came into his own last season putting up 34 points good for 8th in the league among Defensemen. Moves the puck fairly well (as his 32 assists would suggest) and not afraid of the physical play.

Kruse came to the TT after the season started but played 45 games and had 20 points. He did have his moments but was a -10 on the season. Could be a good 2nd line guy and who knows if he fits the Express system and things are a little more settled than they were in Frisco last season he could make a decent jump in performance this year. He appears to have the tools to do so.

Just my My 2 Cents . That and about another $4.95 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Jr. Ditto about the lack of skill in this camp overall, but according to me sources its a fundraiser and they took everyone who signed up.

Remember we need money to run the team not memories or love or whatever else everyone keeps blabbing about. Money!

hey wells; for the record a fundraiser is a good thing for sure. lets screw all the kids and take their parents money for a fundraiser Jonlarz is not good and it hurts our reputation if it can get any worse. hell, several kids drafted or tendered so ive heard are a no show and that is disappointing and worrysome for us.

money is getting tight already and we still need to pay the league for their big startup costs. we need better ideas for raising money so we dont have to feed this animal to keep it alive. season is about 2 months away. be patient.

Kruse and Puente made the first cut to 4 teams and contributed. They are making cuts as we speak for the Allstar game. There are about 12 players with NAHL experience and I would guess most will make the team as a base of experience. I'm amazed at how the level of play elevates after the first cut gets rid of the marginal players. These kids really give 100%. Feeling good about what I see.

I was not impressed with the two mentioned; but they were better than the rest if that says anything. Hate the new logo, looks gay.

I am off to the rink to see my first game of the tryouts. Things we have been hearing and reading do not sound that great. With all the fucking hype Bill has been blowing for the past couple of months I expected better than this. Two guys with exp are not gonna win games when the rest are newbee's. Couple of our own town kids will make it but hey thats what was planned already with the parents/donators and good luck to them.

Well our team is picked/hoping all sign. Kind of worried about 2 pretty decent players though.

Many thanks to our seasoned as well as new volunteers for a job well done. Your assistance help made the camp run kinda smooth. Smile

It was not the most exciting camp but it was ok and it will be nice to see a team play here again.

You havent seen the team and the cost projections are way too low so more funds are needed.

Hello;

With the new Express team in place, Pat Cullen will be busy on the ice and such and can leave the underage girls alone.

Beware parents, this guy loves young girls!
