Yeah, it was a shock when I heard this. May he rest in peace and his family be solaced by it.

I was living in New Orleans when Smokey and the Bandit came out, but had lived here twice before. The funny thing is, Texarkana, Texas is "dry". Yes, we are a twin city, i.e. two Texarkanas, one in Texas and one in Arkansas. Arkansas is "wet". But the movie referenced Texas. Just one of those Hollywood quirks, (no research) I guess.
