2 fucking guys signed? Are you kidding me? Hell Odessa has 20! WTF are you waiting for Chief? It better be fucking good. Damn I'm glad I didn't renew this year!

Two guys signed is different than two guys announced.

I wonder if we have more signed and are just waiting to annonce because if we truly only have 2 guys signed we are screwed. when I look at all of the talent some of the other teams picked up I think "hey if we would have been a little more proactive about this season we could have picked up some of these guys like Bouchard (RGV), Richards or McCnab (CC)". Look at how loaded odessa is. I guess we are going to rely on clayton and duda until they retire. and really in this league now compared to the vetrans other teams have they are 2nd liners at best.

I'm sure there are more signed. But why the fuck would you keep it a "secret"? Are the players so shocking they can only release the signings one every month? Or, does the front office just get off on knowing something that their "fans" don't know?

I never have quite understood this line of thinking. What difference does it make to other teams who you have signed. I am sure every coach/GM has their done deal guys and then they have another "short list". Is it they are in a wage war with other teams? I doubt it cuz they would release someone they are bidding on.

Is it they have a said guy signed but another team is still trying to get him which once they find out sends them down their list to the next guy. In hopes that the next guy is already signed, then they go to the next guy, then the next.

That is the only thing I can see that would keep it a secret.

Maybe with the interent now they don't want us picking them apart and having a preconception of their ability before the season even starts. If that is the case they probably shouldn't be signed anyways.

I know Bossier doesn't release hardly anyone until camp starts.

Col only has two or three signed, but everyone knows that the core group will be back.

Much of it has to do with the salary cap and vet spots and the type of coach. Musky, were it not for the front office, probably wouldn't release a roster until the day camp started. There is a strategic value to having other teams not know where you are in terms of their roster. Everyone in the league knows that Corpus has one vet spot left and only enough space for one more high dollar signing. All of their impact signings have been forwards. Pretty much everyone in the league knows that they're targeting a high dollar vet Dman. Well that can change the way other teams in the league negotiate with free agents high dollar vet Dmen, since they know that Corpus needs one, is targeting one (might already have one, but still) and therefore they might want to beat Corpus to the punch for Mr 20G-40A-100PM Blueliner.

Right now, no one has any idea what the Thunder are targeting (some coaches have an idea, since they're competing for certain players and the player has mentioned that he's looking at either Wichita or Team X), which can give the Thunder (or any other team) an advantage in recruiting. Musky does this every year, some coaches are more paranoid than others, looks like we've got a coach who keeps things close to the vest. I don't know why they don't release a few of the rookie / young player signings, but then again, given the mentality of TTW, I can see why they don't want to, since any young small fast player we sign will suck, whereas if any other team signs a similar player, he'll have good potential.

This is going to be an interesting year, with the impact of both the league being unionized and the huge contracts being offered by Euro teams. Then again, and it truly pains me to say this, "I know something you don't".

The ones I could recommend will all be starting their NCAA season this year. Season will be here not soon enough. Some of them have started showing up and working out in the gym here and going to KC to skate. The official first day of practice will be Sept. 1st.

Absolutely. It won't remain full for long.

Also early announcements can come back to bite you in the rear. Ori for the Bugs this year....seems every time Musky breaks down and let's one out early he ends up going somewhere else and it turns into fodder for the "anti-Musky" mill.

And as Speed said, some coaches hold there signings very close to the vest for various other reasons.

I would be very surprised if any coach in the CHL doesn't know at least 18 of the players that will be on the ice the first day of camp right now. And if pressed could probably name 15-17 of the players that will be on the opening day 19 man roster.

but you are right they seemd to hit the oposite of whatever you are playing.
