Thunder trades for forward

The Thunder, which has been active on the trade front lately, squeezed in one more before today’s deadline, dealing defenseman Jim Jorgensen for Bossier forward Neil Clark. Clark has three goals, three assists and 67 penalty minutes in 26 games.

Ok. I'm not understanding the logic behind this trade. They give up their 2nd best (statistically) d-man, for a guy who was way at the bottom of a pretty good scoring team. Lack of ice time, or whatever, I think they shouldn't have done this trade, at all. They were better off (surprisingly) without bringing in another "underachiever".

It may have been a case of "I'm leaving" so they traded him. Otherwise I'm with you - Why?

I think this guy has a up side to him. If you have watched the Dman we traded for him very much you would know why.

I don't know how they picked him as the allstar but whatever.

The whole year we knew we were soft up front and had no scoring, this kid brings a little of both.

I like it.

The 28-year old Clark had three goals, three assists, and 67 PIM in 26 games for the Mudbugs this year. Clark enjoyed his best season to date last year, setting career-bests with 21 goals, 36 points, and 160 PIM. During his rookie season with the Laredo Bucks in 2006-07, Clark scored 12 points in 21 playoff games to help Laredo win the Southern Conference championship.

Funny how they left this part out of the blog. Compare it to some of out forwards it looks to be a no brainer.

Well, he does bring some toughness to the table Probably a good thing for a team that right now is pretty soft. Maybe now Bria won't have to be the enforcer.

Jorgenson made it almost an entire period before he was knocked out of the game by a boarding that didn't even merit a minor in the official's eyes. Even the Riverking's fans say it should have been a major.

Second all-star d-man the Bugs have lost to a concussion this season, one being career ending. Neither had a penalty called.

I honestly believe the Bugs should start going after all-star players on other teams to send the message that if you go after ours, we will go after yours. Seems you can't count on the league to protect the players from vicious elbows and hits.

What's Muscutt's excuse for not sending DeLory out after Stoddard?? What's Delory's excuse for not going after Stoddard?? Not one Bugs player even thought about going after Stoddard.

I hear the same whine every season from the Bugs about losing players and the ref's not calling anything. When's Muscutt gonna grow some balls?

Let's not forget, around a 1/3rd of B-S' roster used to play in Wichita. And everyone knows Wichita players don't stick up for their players. Just a matter of rubbing off on the other players.

I agree with you on this point, and I have asked Musky about it in the past. He pointed out the leagues willingness, bordering on eagerness to suspend Bugs players as a reason not to go with the "eye for an eye" approach I advocated.

Guess it is hard to argue the point when you see Lightbody getting 6 games for joining in a 6 on 4 fight. Desantis gets 0 games for an intentional knee-on-knee hit that put Cooper out for months. Clouthier gets 0 games for ending Lupul's career. Yet to be determined if Stoddard gets any supplemental punishment for his hit on Jorgenson.

Karma's a bitch ain't it? I'm going back a few years, but...

1) How many times did Dan Wildfong get away with a nasty cheapshot in an attempt to injure an opponent (sometimes successfully no doubt)?

2) How many times did boarding majors get called when Wildfong was checked and appeared to be near death or paralysis until after the penalty call was made, after which he suddenly miraculously recovered and played the next shift?

It looks like things even out in the long run to me, but feel free to claim that unlike you I am biased.

So he had 2 goals and an assist last night... something we needed was offense.

You still think this was a bad move, Tiny?

I don't dispute that Fonger was a dirty player. I do disagree with your assertion that he got away with it. He was suspended numerous times, jumped probably a dozen times with no instigation call on the other player and I was about ten feet away when Landmesser broke Dan's face with a hook and no penalty was nor suspension was served.

In all honesty Fonger probably deserved every bit of it. I have talked to players (Bugs and others) that have told me Dan never skated a shift that at least one penalty couldn't have been called on him.

I just don't think that Fonger's actions 3 or more years ago should leave current Mudbugs fair game to career ending elbows and boardings that even the opponents fans have trouble understanding why no call was made.

According to pointstreak, it was 1 goal and 2 assists. But regardless, they lost due to a total lack of DEFENSE!!! So did trading away their second best d-man help them? Sure didn't look like it. And honestly, I'm surprised Clark pulled that many points. Half the time he was on the ice, he was just standing around looking totally lost. Ofcourse not near as bad as Ottman, who went -4 on the night. What a worthless piece of shit that guy is.
