that is because you MUST make every human action and interaction into something that permits you to stereotype people. to that extent, your bigotry is exactly the same as alcoholism, cancer or any other illness. you are powerless over it and it runs your life. that is why you continue to do things that are contrary to the outcomes you hope to achieve. you just can't help yourself.

speaking of addictions, the compulsion to have a gun in your possession in spite of the FACT that it is 43X more likely to kill a friend or relative than a criminal is almost pathlogical.

jc, We all have character flaws. Just some of us don't try to claim they are a disease so we don't have to take responsibility for them. My biggest is that I ear too much. Every one in awhile I go on a diet and lose weight. Then the flaw shows up again and I gain it back. Like I have said before, I bet I could get my insurance company to pay for my character flaw. When I am at my highest weight I'm sure I could find a doctor to say I required surgery to staple or band or whatever the new thing they do to your stomach if you are too weak willed to eat less. Just like the thousands upon thousands of dollars paid so the people who don't like to stop after a couple of beers can claim it isn't their fault.

I've never spent a night in a treatment facility so fred you are way off once again. keep trying it gets more and more entertaining each and everytime.

What does that have to do with pretending you have a disease so you don't have to admit your flaws? Are you powerless over beer?

no pretending about it and in case you just got off the short bus....I haven't drank in almost 13 years. I drank beer like most drink water.

no where in that does it saying anything about them having no will power, etc.

Imagine that. The doctors calling it a disease. If they didn't then the insurance companies wouldn't pay them to "treat" it.

doctors so to say can't treat it......sure meds can be used to help with the withdrawls one body goes thru but after that it is solely up to the individual and the choices he makes.

Just like you must choose every morning if you are going to have hairpie or balls across the chin. How do you do it fred? Flip a coin? Or have your wife draw straws?

I don't know. Like I said before, my wife makes good money because of people in "treatment".

we all know she is way wiser to these things than you and the rest of us. How does she feel about it??? or is she a hoax and a scam ripping off these innocent folks, when, has you put it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them

I never said there was nothing wrong with them. Other than looking for an excuse to explain their flaws. You never did answer, are you powerless over beer?

Beer was for light weights when I drank....I know how to drink better than anyone. I could drink beer like you drink water or milk. Today I choose not to. Life is easier and I know what I do.

Am I powerless?? YES, only after having the first one. All alcoholics are. You go out and drink half a beer...to me that's assinine!! I set out many times to have a couple.....never quite worked out that way. That was a lifetime ago and has jc pointed out it can return anytime. All I or any other alcoholic has to do is pick up one.

See fred it ain't the second 5th or the second case of beer that causes the problems......IT'S THE VERY FIRST ONE!! If you drink anything harder than beer I would imagine you pour what you need, replace the cap, and go on.

Myself take off the cap and toss it out the window.....doesn't get in the way that way. And only pussies mix their drinks at the end It was straight out of the bottle (or poured straight into a large glass) and chase it with beer.

It's ok to be powerless that was a lifetime ago but all it takes is one and that misery is all back right where it left off 13 years ago.

and fred, just so you know I've taken all (but one) of the required courses to counsel and help thoughs in treatment for addictions.....but it doesn't pay has well has building airplanes.
