fred's primary means of dealing with all things is to interpret people, events, activities and etc in ways that permits him to steroptype the people, classifiy them as either bad or good based on his bigoted view of the world and then judge everyone in the group based on those stereotypes. then, he uses this to blame the "other people" (minorities, alcholics, women, homosexuals, etc) for all of society's problems, thereby taking the blame off of him and his ilk (where it justly belongs).

I have said before I respect anyone who relizes they have that flaw and then does something about it. (choose not to have that first one). I do judge peoples actions. I believe that is one of our big problems in this country now. It has gotten where anything you choose to do is ok. It's either not your fault because you have a disease, you were born that way or somebody else made you do it. Oh and I almost forgot, then the productive people have to pay for the results of what you have chosen to do.

Alot of times it's the action of the people that does the judging.

I mean no disrespect stoney but your post isn't always true.

I'm not really directing this at Stoney. He sounds like the kind of guy who made mistakes and then took action to correct them. That's what good people do. I just disagree with his view that lets the people keep making the same mistakes and still have some excuse that lets them off the hook.

my friend has been battling cancer for years and yet he is still alive. So in your eyes fred because he has cancer and can't work he is using that has an excuse. Even though cancer just like alcoholism is a disease.

Only difference...most people will not recover from cancer. With treatment and by working a good program most all can keep their alcoholism at bay by doing simple things and living a day at a time.

Come on. Cancer isn't a choice. After having one beer everybody has the coice to have another or not. Just because some people don't have a strong enough will to only have one, doesn't make it a disease. That's just an excuse to let them claim it really isn't their fault.

You know Fred, when it comes to my own Addictive Behaviors, I agree with you. I always felt, still feel, like it is a weakness.

But, when it comes to others, I have no problem thinking of it as a Disease. It seems like more people are helped when it is treated that way. I'm mean, how the Hell else are ya gonna get the Weak-Willed Bastards to dry out?

this is a classic example of what is wrong with america. fred views everything as a way to blame people rather than finding ways to resolve problems. instead of helping alcoholics by getting them treatment, fred's plan is to just place blame and ignore the problem., same with race. fred would rather blame minorities for all of the race problems in america instead of actually resolving those problems. at the end of the day in fred's society what we get is a bunch of unhappy, maladjusted people who don't like each other, who can't cooperate to improve their lives and who scapegoat others for all the problems without taking responsibility for what they have created.

I think you have it backwards. I take full responsibility for everything I do. I don't blame others or claim I have a "disease". I enjoy the heck out of life. I even help people who are less fortunate. I just believe I should be allowed to decide who I want to help.

What the heck are you talking about? My wife donates money to who she wants and I donate to who I want. If we are talking about a large amount, then we would talk about it first.

i have yet to see you accept responsibility for all the harm your racism and bigotry cause. i have yet to see you apologize to all the people you;ve called "darkies" and insulted with your racial slurs. and i also haven't heard you apologize to all the black people who you discriminate against simply because of their color. the only thing you are looking to do is find someone or some group to blame for every problem while you duck your own responsibility. that is why we can never actually solve any of america's problems - people like you don;t care about that, all you care about is finding someone to blame.

many of the behaviors that lead to cancer are choices, just like the behaviors that lead to alcoholism. in fact, many diseases atre caused by behavior that people could control. are you suggesting that we just tell everyone who gets sick that they are totally on their own. or just those who get diseases that you disapprove of.

I understand now. I do blame the criminals for the crime. I do blame the non-productive people for being a drain on the rest of us. I do blame hairy butt pokers and drug addicts for spreading AIDS. I don't believe anybody should have the "right" to live in a house I paid for unless I want them to. I don't blame my problems on anybody though. I believe my "responsibility" is to work hard to provide for myself and my family and to pay way more than the average guy to contribute the society. Then I even donate some that they don't make me, for the less fortunate.
