USHL Roster Deadlines

Does anyone know when the deadline is for additions to USHL rosters?

They will be making moves right up until then, too. A few more moves were made over the last few days. Any news on where Jon Morrow ended up?

He is listed on the Mahoning Valley roster today.

Thanks, Ryan. Glad to see that he landed on a good team, but it may be hard for him to get the playing time that he is used to behind Zapolski. Good luck.

I see Morrow is getting the start tonight against Traverse City - good luck to him.

There's today's winner of the "I think I'll say something false because it sounds good and nobody will call me on it anyway" award. Morrow barely played in Lincoln, because he simply wasn't ready for the USHL. He'd better not be looking for the same playing time he got in Lincoln, 'cause he'll end up with splinters in his butt from sitting on the bench so much.

LOL- thanks for that!

Morrow started last year with Fargo Moorehead and got absolutely no playing time since B.J. O'Brien was in the midst of starting off the year with a ten-game winning streak. But then Morrow was traded to Alpena in mid-October and played almost every single game for a few months with Alpena's Phil Greer (who was already committed to playing Division I hockey at Bowling Green) sitting on the bench game after game. Alpena over used Morrow but didn't slow down using him until Greer was traded away and Peter O'Hara joined the team.

So Morrow is in fact used to plenty of playing time in the NAHL.

The ironic part about Morrow going to Lincoln and sitting behind Bryan Hogan is that Hogan was Morrow's back up at Compuware in the Midget Major years where Morrow would get 2/3 of the games.

Morrow did not accumulate very good stats at Lincoln, but for that matter Hogan has not done so this year either. Unlike last year, I have not seen Lincoln play this year yet so can't comment much further.

I can tell you that Morrow's favorite move is to knock the net off to stop the play. Hope that give you the information you need on that particular goaltender.

Keep up your interest in hockey!

One time my mom misspoke and accidentally called Compuware 'Tupperware'. My dad and me were on the floor we were laughing so hard.

I've seen Hunwick knock the net off its moorings in Alpena quite a bit this season, OH. And it's not his or Morrow's intent, in my opinion.

Every time when we have been to Northern Lights Arena, they have two teenage kids just put the pegs in place without securing them.

Then they just lift the posts over the pegs and not double check them to see if they're set and secure. Alpena and Traverse City both have the most forgiving goal posts.

In Ann Arbor and Springfield, they are quite the opposite. They are terribly meticulous in securing the posts. They check for water levels in the spaces and literally tap the pegs into the ice.

By the way, on Saturday night, Morrow accidentally knocked the net off once and quickly put it back in place, while play was still deep in his zone. Then the referee waited at least five seconds before blowing the whistle just to make sure it was secure.
